The 3 causes of crepey skin that have nothing to do with your age

The 3 causes of crepey skin that have nothing to do with your age

What Is Crepey Skin?

Crepey skin is thin and thinly wrinkled like crepe paper.  It can sag or feel loose. Although crepey skin is similar in many respects to ordinary wrinkles, the disorder appears to affect wider areas, and looks notably more delicate and thinner. Crepey skin is most common under the eyes and in the upper inner arms.

The 3 Causes of Crepey Skin

While the condition is more common with age, it is important to recognize that age itself isn't necessarily the number one factor. So, let’s take a look at the 3 primary causes of crepey skin.

  1. Not wearing a high quality sunscreen.Directly exposing unprotected skin to sunlight or tanning bed UV rays can radically accelerate the aging process. Over time these rays break down skin’s collagen and elastin fibers that keep it firm and plump. So, in addition to preventing skin related disease, a high quality sunscreen will preserve collagen and elastin fibers, thereby preventing crepey skin.
  2. Allowing the skin to dehydrate. As skin dehydrates, it loses the ability to repair itself.  When you habitually neglect the use of a moisturizer, particularly in a more dry environment, skin damage can accrete at an accelerated rate.  To avoid the damage that results in crepey skin, it is essential to maintain good moisturizing habits and to stay consistently hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  3. Not using products in all areas where they are needed. The powerful antioxidants in high-end skincare that fight against crepey skin have probably been limited to only helping your face, not making it much past your chin. But the skin on your neck and decolletage are at least as prone to sun damage and creping as your face.  Moreover, the neck and decolletage are regularly visible and can easily betray one’s age, even if the face remains healthy and youthful.  The answer is simple:  Use your products everywhere you expect them to work!

Prevention and Treatment of Crepey Skin:  Retinol vs. Bioretinol

>

Retinol

In past decades, retinol has been THE most prescribed ingredient by doctors for crepey skin. Why? It has this amazing ability to promote collagen and elastin production. But unfortunately, it has some profoundly negative side effects.

It is not recommended for women who are or might become pregnant, and new studies indicate that it might accelerate the growth of cancer cells.  It can cause dry, red, itchy, irritated skin, and make it significantly more sensitive to the sun.

Even when a regimen is followed strictly, with regular application of moisturizer and sunscreen and strict avoidance of direct sun exposure, retinol will thin the skin, and there is a risk that benefits of traditional retinol can be offset by potential damage.

Since compliance with any health or beauty regime is NEVER perfect, the balance of risk to reward with traditional retinol is even less clear.

Fortunately, recent research has produced an alternative in BIORETINOL that is free from the compromises and risks associated with traditional retinol.

Bioretinol

Bioretinol is a plant-based formula that promotes collagen and elastin production for firmer, more lifted, thicker, and plumper skin, but without the negative side effects of traditional retinol. It does not make skin itchy, dry, irritated, or considerably more sensitive to sunlight.

Furthermore, the effects of bioretinol can be augmented with other natural, plant-based ingredients to work synergistically and target all the features and causes of crepey skin.

The bioretinol formula itself can incorporate Hyaluronic Acid.  Hyaluronic Acid not only deeply moisturizes skin, but also fills free spaces between fibers, keeping collagen flexible and skin looking plumper and younger.

The addition of Acai Sterols provide antioxidants from the fruit to revitalize skin and fight free radicals that cause crepey skin.

Full Spectrum CBD oil has a range of benefits and is particularly well suited as not only a supplement to bioretinol, but also as a delivery agent.

Several studies have shown CBD oil treats inflammation, dryness and itching, and can be used to prevent more serious skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Moreover, studies have shown that the antioxidant properties of CBD oil directly relieve the oxidative stress that contribute to the aging process.

It is important to note that bioretinol cannot be used in isolation. It’s so concentrated that it needs to be part of a skincare formula.

Working with our chemists and scientists, TruePure organics created a clean, natural, vegan, and non-toxic product - No More Crepe Neck and Decolletage Cream.
